Kris Kronology

Kristia M. Beaubrun was born and raised in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, NY. The eldest of three daughters, she was raised in a bilingual household learning her Haitian parents’ native languages, French and Haitian-Creole.

As Christians, her parents knew that they were entrusted with the responsibility to teach her moral values. Kristia was enrolled in the Hebron Seventh-day Adventist Bilingual School and graduated in 1999. It was during those early years of life, Kristia was trained about the Word of God and the proper steps towards a wholesome Christian lifestyle.

She later attended Paul Robeson High School, then transferred to and graduated from Science Skills Center High School in 2003, where she was a member of the Community Service and Dance clubs.

In the Fall of 2003, Kristia registered as an undergraduate student at Brooklyn College, the City University of New York where she joined several groups including, the Haitian American Students Association, Arts Coalition, Students Engaged in Responsible Volunteer Action, Broeklundian Yearbook, and the student-led newspaper, the Brooklyn College Kingsman. It was after joining The Kingsman that she realized her career would be in Journalism. She began as a staff writer, a News Editor two years later, and ultimately the Editor-in-Chief.

During her four years of college, she interned with Redesigning Technology Corp., EXPARTUS, MTV’s Nickelodeon Magazine, the Dominican Times Magazine, and finally with the New York City Council and before obtaining full-time employment with the United States House of Representatives.

Kristia later graduated from Brooklyn College, the City University of New York with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007.

Aside from her professional and academic responsibilities, Kristia has given freely of her time to her church and community. She served as an usher, secretary for the Women’s Ministries Department, Highsteppers Adventurer Club director and counselor, youth staff member, and choir member.  She currently holds several positions as a member of the Hebron French-speaking Seventh-day Adventist Church which includes the Communications Director, and church board member. She also served as the Public Relations Director for the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Franco-Haitian Youth Federation which oversees more than 40 churches and a former board member of the Hebron Seventh-day Adventist Bilingual School.

Communications has become the primary focus of Kristia in her professional life. Her goal is to open a firm that will train, equip, and empower leaders, specifically within the underrepresented faith-based community, to expand their reach.

Presently, Kristia is a member of the Society of Adventist Communicators and is currently working on her Master of Arts degree in Corporate Communications at Baruch College, the City University of New York. She also writes for the Atlantic Union Gleaner and  Examiner.com as the the New York  Seventh-day Adventist Examiner.

  1. On the whole, I am not very keen on politics in general – however, every now and then all of us have to pause for thought. There are several very good issues raised here, and I’m thinking about it deeply – I am grateful to you.
